Daystar Info & FAQs

Daystar is an email service offered by Compass Foundation. Various plans are available, ranging from a single @daystar.io address starting at 5GB of storage to many addresses @yourcustom.domain.

We value privacy: Your information belongs to you and nobody else. We don't mine your emails to profile you and serve advertisements.

We value security: Authentication and encryption on both send/receive are mandatory by default; when possible, secure connections are used when transmitting email to other providers. However, note that intra-provider email routing is not always encrypted due to other providers' server configurations; email should not be considered a private channel for sensitive communication.

Plan Details

  • Bronze accounts are given an @daystar.io email address. The default account size is 5GB, with additional blocks of 5GB storage available.
  • Silver accounts support custom @yourdomain email addresses for up to 10 users, and include 50 GB of storage.
  • Gold accounts support custom @yourdomain email addresses for up to 50 users, and include 200 GB of storage.

NOTE: Silver and Gold accounts do no permit reselling of email services. The scope of users must be contained within your business or household.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

How can I access email hosted with Daystar?

There are several ways to access your Daystar email account:

Are there any email limitations such as attachment size?

Here are a few things to know about email accounts hosted on Daystar:

  • Daystar accepts sending and receiving messages up to 30 MB in size.
  • Emails can be sent to a maximum of 49 recipients.
  • Accounts can send a maximum of 125 messages per hour.
How can I send messages to fifty or more people at a time?

Emails with a large recipient list can impact the Daystar spam reputation score. To prevent being flagged as a spam email provider, messages with fifty or more recipients are treated as "bulk mail" and are forwarded to SendGrid for distribution. Sendgrid has a limit of 1,000 recipients.

If you are on the Silver or Gold plans, we strongly recommend that bulk mail users take advantage of mail-merge software, Daystar mailing lists, or an email blast provider such as Mailchimp or ConstantContact.

Compass reserves the right, at its discretion, to charge extra for bulk mailings.

What can I do when my storage is full?

If an email account reaches the storage limit, the account will be unable to receive any new emails. There are several options available to prevent this from happening.

  • Delete old emails that are no longer needed, especially emails with large attachments.
  • If on the Bronze plan, purchase additional storage (available in 5 GB increments).
  • If on the Silver plan, upgrade to the Gold plan for 200 GB of storage and additional email addresses.
  • If running out of storage on the Gold plan, please contact Compass to discuss upgrade options and pricing.
